Scripture of the Day - October 18, 2012

Numbers 13:32  And they brought up an evil report...

Who's report will you believe? Do you have more faith in the devil than you do in God? Sounds blasphemous I know, but some people do have more faith in the devil and it shows by their actions.
Moses had sent 12 men to spy out the land that God had promised to them. In fact, it was the Lord who told Moses to send the men. Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel. Let's get this clear now. God promised the land and God told Moses to send leaders from every tribe to search the land yet they came back with a negative report. They were sent to size up the situation to see what they would have to do to conquer this promised land and all they could focus on were the obstacles. They brought back the grapes and pomegranates and figs and declared the land was surely flowing with milk and honey but they said nevertheless, the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great...we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight. They saw how strong the inhabitants were, they recognized how weak they were but they didn't factor in their God; their God who led them out of Egypt, who brought them through the Red Sea and destroyed the Egyptian army that was chasing them down. They had more faith in the enemy than they did in their God. And because of that, they had to wander for 40 years in the desert!
Whatever struggle you are going through today, whatever trial you are in the middle of, don't lose sight of your God. Don't forget that your God delivered you already out of the hand of the enemy. You are on the winning side! Don't look at yourself as a grasshopper, because what you see yourself as the enemy will see you as.  Paul knew right well...we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. And he had to go through it all... tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword...  and he knew that none of it could separate us from the love of God or take away our victory in Christ! So who's report do you believe? Who do you have more faith in?
